Knoble Yoshida & Dunleavy, LLC is an internationally oriented intellectual property law firm that is headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The firm serves a diverse international clientele including prominent multinational corporations, academic institutions, governmental bodies as well as mid-sized and smaller businesses and institutions. The firm practices directly before the United States and European Patent Offices and works closely with affiliate firms in Europe and other countries such as Canada, Australia, Japan, Korea and China to effectively and strategically procure, maintain and enforce its client's intellectual property assets worldwide in a cost-efficient manner. Our attorneys and agents have successfully prosecuted thousands of intellectual property matters in the United States and in various countries throughout the world.

With the recent deterioration of the world's economy, we believe that it is more important than ever to provide legal services that are not only of the highest quality but that provide excellent value to our clients.  While our attorneys possess academic backgrounds and qualifications that are equivalent to or superior to those at the most expensive law firms, our fees tend to be significantly lower.  We also have the flexibility to offer patent prosecution services at fixed rates and to provide volume discounts to clients that use our services on a frequent basis.

Three of our attorneys are former patent examiners at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.  One of our partners is a registered European Patent attorney.  One of our partners is fluent in Japanese and is particularly skilled at providing opinions and related counseling to large multinational Japanese corporations.

Our practice often involves providing our clients with guidance as to how to effectively and economically enforce intellectual property rights in the U.S. Courts system as well as how to best defend such cases.  We conduct as well as manage patent litigation in venues throughout the United States.  We are also well suited to serve as independent settlement counsel for our corporate and international clients in order to facilitate a swift and economical resolution to disputes that are in the process of adjudication.

KY&D has an active counseling practice in which we provide guidance to our clients on how to optimize their intellectual property rights in a manner that makes business sense as well as how to avoid infringing the rights of competitors.  This may include evaluating the potential patentability of new inventions, providing opinions based on patent clearance searches and providing our clients with opinions on the risk that may be posed by patents that are owned by others.

We have particular expertise in advising our clients on how to use patents, copyrights and trademarks concurrently to protect commercial product designs.

The firm also provides its mid-sized clients with the ability to economically outsource corporate counseling services such as portfolio and litigation management that would otherwise require expensive in-house counsel.  KY&D's corporate counsel services includes the management of such issues such as the appropriate level of corporate security that is required to preserve enforceability of trade secrets, employment agreements and restrictive covenants that protect the company against predatory hiring of key employees by competitors, relationships with independent contractors so as to preserve intellectual property rights and periodic industry monitoring for potentially relevant patents and published patent applications.

Our offices in Center City Philadelphia are centrally located to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in Alexandria, Virginia and the major urban centers of eastern North America such as New York, Washington/Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Boston and Toronto.

Our offices in Amsterdam, Netherlands are conveniently located close to the European Patent Office Branch at The Hague, Netherlands.
