John L.
Knoble was introduced to the field of intellectual
property as a Patent Examiner, serving in the Examining
Corps of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office from
1983-86. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in
Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science from
Duke University and a Juris Doctor (with high honors)
from the Intellectual Property program at
the National Law Center, George Washington University.
Mr. Knoble has been involved in the successful prosecution of literally
thousands of patents in the United States and throughout the world.
He is also active in intellectual property litigation both at the
trial court and appellate level, and has significant experience in the
licensing of intellectual property.
Since entering private practice over 20 years ago, he has been active
in protecting and enforcing intellectual property in such varied
technologies as medical and surgical tools and instrumentation,
radiology, telecommunications hardware and software, thermodynamic
systems such as refrigeration, heat pumps and humidification equipment,
mailing and addressing systems, dentistry, nuclear fuel containment and
handling, plastic thermoforming, humidification equipment, footwear,
artificial turf systems, augmented reality, image processing and
analysis, compressors, metals formulation and refining, metals casting
and processing, plastics molding, filtration and purification systems,
plasma and laser technologies, fasteners, electrical connectors,
sporting goods, looms and fabricmaking, agricultural and farming
equipment, plumbing, optics, vision testing equipment, papermaking and
processing, packaging, can and bottle making, petroleum storage and
dispensing, pet products, mining and excavation, machine tools,
waterjet cutters, automotive products, infant care products,
aeronautics, stormwater and wastewater treatment, computer software and
Internet business methods.
In addition, he is acknowledged as an expert in
protecting consumer product designs through strategic
concurrent use of copyrights, utility and design patents and trademarks.
He has lectured and been published
on interrelating law, technology, and business issues.
Mr. Knoble is a member of the Bar of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and
is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals
for the Federal Circuit; the Federal District Court
for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the
U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
